At Pixelfarming Robotics you are guaranteed that no week is the same. The third week of 2025 was a great example of that. The diversity of operations going on was truly extraordinary. From operating Robot One under the Spanish nightsky to driving through the snow in Germany. Our engineers are currently on the road to test Robot One onsite and make preperations for the growing season of 2025.
Our scheduled maintenance appointment at one of our German growers came paired with about 10cm of snow. Because the snow was covering all the plants we could not make sensible scanruns or laser away the weeds. However, this did present us with a great option to test Robot One’s driving capabilities in the snow.
The early birds takes the worm. With this spirit our operator in Spain started before sunrise with a scanrun in a field full of spinach. During our pre-season testing in Spain we experimented with ways to make plant recognition with cameras more uniform. This uniformity was reached with the combination of a bedtop lighting system together with a skirt around the robot. This eliminated unwanted shadows and irregular lighting conditions. The intergration of this technology improved the reliability of the plant recognition. Our operator put this to the test and started around 6:00 in the morning to make s scanrun in the dark.
In the north of the Netherlands our engineers experienced the cold but sunny winter weather that the Netherlands is known for. In a grassfield they were experimenting with a new tool.
